PCA Director Gul Rehman detects Rs1bn tax evasions in six months

KARACHI: While showing extra ordinary efforts and dedication, the Pakistan Customs Post Clearance Audit (PCA) Director Gul Rehman has detected evasion of duty and taxes to the tune of over Rs 1 billion in just a short period of six months, it is learnt.

Sources told Customs Today that Director PCA Gul Rehman was posted in the directorate in January 2015 and within a short period of six months a huge amount of tax and duty evasion had been detected and forwarded to the adjudications for further proceedings.

In year 2012-13, the directorate of PCA had detected only 15 cases of tax evasions worth Rs 7.4 million, sources said, adding that a total of 105 cases were detected in the year 2013-14 with an evasion of Rs 40 million.

However, with the extra ordinary efforts of the present director, the directorate has detected more than 403 cases of tax and duty evasions worth more than Rs 1 billion in six months that never happened in the past.

The director PCA has been striving hard to further improve the performance of the directorate with his present team.
