DJ Butt challenges legal position of Punjab Revenue Authority

LAHORE: Defence counsel of famous musician, DJ Butt, has said that the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has no authority to summon his client as the authority is still incomplete as it is functioning without its full members, sources told Customs Today.

It is pertinent to mention here, that the PRA has summoned the musician-turned political activist DJ Butt to appear before the revenue authority but he failed to appear. However, his lawyer represented and responded on his behalf.

The lawyer said that PRA has yet to complete the structure of the authority and it has no right to summon his client DG Butt, sources quoted him as saying.  He also said that the legal position of the authority is already challenged in the court of law.

On the other hand, the PRA said that the lawyer’s information on authority’s structure is out-dated and it has secretary excise, secretary services, secretary prosecution and chairman PRA is also member of the authority.

According to PRA, DJ Butt owned Rs 17.3 million tax on services which he extended to PTI during almost four month’s long sit-in in Islamabad.
