KARACHI – The Research and Development (R&D) Section of Model Customs Collectorate-MCC of Appraisement (East) is going to prepare a Contravention Report (CR) against M/s Sundus Fertilizers & Chemicals Pakistan (Pvt) Limited and M/s Al-Rehmat Trading in their alleged involvement in mis-declaration of classification, description and value of imported consignments, it is learnt.
The reliable sources in MCC-Appraisement (East) informed Customs Today that another case of mis-declaration against the importer M/s Sundus Fertilizers & Chemicals Pakistan (Pvt) Limited has been detected and unearthed by MCC-Appraisement (East) and Collector Najeeb-ur-Rehman Abbasi has asked the officers/officials concerned to execute legal formalities in this regard.

The impeccable sources further revealed that importer M/s Sundus Fertilizers & Chemicals Pakistan (Pvt) Limited has tried to import pesticides in the garb of fertilizer and attempted to evade duties and taxes. During scrutiny, it was found that the importer was involved in tax evasion. The sources further informed this scribe that a team comprising the officers/officials of MCC-Appraisement (East) intended to go to Multan, the business origin of the importer for arresting the culprits, but the recent unprecedented floods in Punjab are creating hurdles in this regard.
It is pertinent to mention here that the MCC-Appraisement (East) had recently registered an FIR against the owners/directors/partners of M/s Sundus Fertilizers & Chemicals Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd and M/s Al-Rehmat Trading in their alleged involvement in mis-declaration of description and value, as the importers tried to import “Cartap Hydrochloride” Tech 98per cent min, B No 20140408 packed in 25Kgs net PP bags in garb of Di-calcium Phosphate (Cap 98per cent Batch No 20140408). The importers evaded Rs5398479 tax by violating Section 32(1), 32(2), 32A, 79 and 192 of the Customs Act, 1969.
