NAB arrests three officers of LERP on corruption charges

KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB-Karachi) has arrested three accused of Lyari Expressway Resettlement Project (LERP) on alleged corruption charges.

The three accused, ex-employees of private banks namely Anwar Ahmed, Muhammad Rafique, Azhar Zahid, and a private person Muhammad Naeemuddin were arrested after investigation into complaints regarding illegal allotment of plots reserved for affectees of Lyari Expressway Project, said a NAB A press release here on Tuesday.

During the course of investigation it was also found that the accused persons were involved in misappropriation of compensation amount meant for displaced families of LERP by opening third-party bank accounts with the connivance of the bank officers.

The efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining absconding accused, it said.
