CALIFORNIA: Scott replaces John Kabateck, who stepped down in June to start his own public affairs firm. The California chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has hired Tom Scott as its new state director.

Over the past two decades, Scott has served as executive director of California Citizens against Lawsuit Abuse, a pro business group that works to restrict lawsuits. In his new role, Scott said that he wanted to raise the profile of NFIB through aggressive lobbying of pro business policies.
