ISLAMABAD:  The government has succeeded in dividing the traders’ community in two group as one group is in favour of strike while the other group is against strike and is in favour of talks. Different signs shows that traders call for strike on August 1 will not bring fruitful results, as the government is still unwilling to withdraw withholding tax on banking transactions.

One traders group is leading by Khalid Pervaiz who first decide to hold protest on August 5 now they are considering to extend the date of protest in view of talks with government.

Sources told Customs Today that traders representatives announce strike call before completing their own home work now some trade bodies are avoiding to take part in the strike which shows that entire traders community is not taking part in the protest.

Sources further revealed that traders bodies leaders contact other leaders on phone and trying to convince them to take part in the protest but most of the leaders answer them in negative. It is also noted here that trade bodies of four provinces already affiliated with some political parties and it is difficult for them to bye-pass their political party point of view.
