SEOUL: Samsung’s phone has a slightly bigger 3.8-inch touchscreen. The new phone goes by a similar name as its predecessor. On the software front, the LG Gentle runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box. Other features include a 3 megapixel main camera and 1700 mAh battery. The Folder’s also got 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of storage with a microSD card slot, and 4G LTE connectivity.

Samsung first unveiled the Galaxy Folder clamshell smartphone back in 2013, which aimed to give users all of the benefits of an Android-powered device with the nostalgic feeling of a flip phone.

We are curious to know how many of you love flip phones. The phone looks handsome and sports a large, physical keypad but also features a tall display that’s touchscreen enabled.

“We thought flip phones would disappear, but some parents are opting to buy them for their teenage kids instead of smartphones because they are less of a distraction”, said Tom Kang, research director of Counterpoint Research.

According to Phone Arena, Samsung is prepping a smaller version of its flagship Android smartphone.

It isn’t yet known if and when the new Galaxy Folder – which is priced around $255 in South Korea – will be available outside of the country.
