KARACHI: MCC-Appraisement (East) Collector Najeebur Rehman Abbasi has said that Queue Management System (QMS) will be introduced at the Collectorate in the near future.
The collector claimed that Pakistan Customs was the only state department wherein the public could approach officials/officers of BPS-11 to 21 merely in an hour time to get their problems resolved.
Collector Najeebur Abbasi declared that doors of the Collectorate were open for the importers, traders and business community to address their grievances.
He informed that 33 percent of the total consignments were being cleared through “green channel,” adding that it was the major reason behind delay in clearance as most of the consignments were being examined by the Customs officials at PICT.
He urged the importers and trade organisations to file actual and precise value and description in their Goods Declaration at the time of filing to avoid unwarranted delay in clearing of consignments.
“Taking the problems being faced by the importers into account, I have deputed two senior officers of Pakistan Customs at ADC and DC level at PICT to facilitate importers”, he revealed.
The MCC-Appraisement (East) Collector said that the entire infrastructure at the Collectorate had been improved as proper seating arrangement and other facilities were being provided to importers.
Najeebur Rehman Abbasi assured the importers that they would have no more to wait in queues outside National Bank (NBP) to deposit duty/taxes after a month as the Collectorate was going to resolve the issue.
He requested the importers to send a list of their stolen goods during examination to the Collectorate so that Pakistan Customs could authorize a representative of the importer to remain at terminal at the time of examination.
