PPP, PTI, JI, PAT to support traders shutter down strike today

LAHORE: Major political parties of Pakistan and Punjab have decided to support shutter down strike of traders against imposition of 0.3 percent withholding tax on bank transactions.

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, in press conference in Lahore, has announced his party’s full support to the traders of the country. He also directed his party leaders to participate in rallies of the traders as he declared WHT as unethical and unjustified.

The Pakistan People’s Party has also announced to support the traders’ shutter down call on August 1, against levy of unjustified withholding tax and vowed to take part in traders’ protest across the country. The PPP alleged that PML-N has failed not only in Punjab but all across the country in resolving traders issues.

While talking to media persons South Punjab PPP senior vice chairman and senior lawyer barrister Haider Zaman Qureshi lambasted the unjustified withholding tax, saying the tax cannot be imposed on peasants at any level. The PPP would fight against its imposition at peasants.

JI Ameer Punjab Waseem Akhtar also announced to support traders on their strike of 1st August. Dr Tahir ul Qadri leader of Pakistan Awami Tehrik has also announced to show full solidarity with traders throughout the country against levy unjustified tax on banking transactions.
