SYDNEY: An Australian shipping services provider is looking to become a shipowner and possibly pushing through an initial public offering too.
Fremantle based Seacorp was founded in 1998 and is involved in ship agency, ship broking, marine surveys, and trade facilitation services.
The company’s founder, Craig Thompson, told the West Australian newspaper that he now in the market for dry bulk ship ranging in size from 30,000 dwt to 65,000 dwt, aged two to three years old.
“We have our finger on the pulse ready to go at the right moment … I’d say it’s going to be before June next year,” Thompson said.
Further ships could be added either by others coming in for equity or Seacorp pushing through an IPO.
