ANF seizes 10 kg narcotics; arrests five drug traffickers

RAWALPINDI: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in five operations has seized 4.62 kilograms cocaine, 5.2 kg heroin and 250 gram Ice (Methamphetamine) worth approximately Rs 58.5 million in international market.

During operations, ANF also arrested five persons including a woman involved in drug trafficking and impounded a vehicle.

According to details, ANF Rawalpindi airport team intercepted a consignment at Cargo Shed, Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad booked from Mirpur, AJK and recovered 1.20 kg heroin concealed inside the cartons.

ANF Rawalpindi Airport Team in collaboration with ASF, also detained a suspected passenger namely Saeed Jahangir at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, Islamabad and recovered 250 gram ice (Methamphetamine) which was concealed in a sweet box. The accused intended to board for Riyadh by Saudi Airline Flight No. SV-719.

Meanwhile, ANF Gilgit Team arrested a local drug peddler namely Shafqat Hussain resident of Gilgit from Dream Land Hotel, Karakoram Highway, Sost area along with recovery of 300 grams charas from his possession.

ANF Karachi acting on a tip-off conducted a raid and captured a Toyota Corolla Car bearing Registration No. AUZ-728 from Super Waziristan Hotel area, Karachi. During search of the vehicle, four kg heroin concealed in improvised cavities of the car was seized, while an occupant of the car namely Allauddin, resident of Qilla Abdullah was also taken into custody. According to the information, he intended to deliver heroin to a local drug peddler at Karachi.

ANF Peshawar Airport Team in an intelligence led operation conducted at Peshawar Airport, arrested a Filipino lady identified as Ampilanen Rowena Bautista and recovered 4.62 kg cocaine which was concealed in seven tins. She arrived from Brazil via Doha by Qatar Airline Flight No. QR-608.

Cases have been registered against all the accused at respective police stations and further investigations are under way.
