LAHORE: Textile industrialists have expressed their grave concern over the prolonged power outages, which are destroying textile industry in Punjab.
All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) Chairman S M Tanveer has said that loadshedding should have been decreased due to heavy rainfall, which could help generate more hydel power. Textile industry had improved its production when loadshedding was reduced to eight hours a day, he said, adding, “The textile millers are surprised over an increase in loadshedding to 10 hours a day once again.”
S M Tanveer urged the government to reduce loadshedding so that the industry could perform up to the optimum level. He further appealed to the water and power ministry to completely exempt 58 textile mills on independent feeders solely dependent on electricity supply so as to restore their viability.
