KADAPA: The Galiveedu police of Kadapa district here the other night arrested 13 red sanders smugglers and seized 24 logs worth more than Rs. 50 lakh, besides confiscating four SUVs and four motorcycles at Gudalamitta village.
Galiveedu Sub-Inspector Reddy Suresh said police conducted the raid, acting on a tip-off, leading to the arrests. He said the smugglers hailed from Galiveedu and Lakkireddipalle areas of the district.
The logs were being transported to Bengaluru from Seshachalam hills, he added.
Police suspect that the smugglers had a design to lift some red sander dumps elsewhere in Kadapa district.
All the accused have been remanded to judicial custody.
