Singapore stocks set to open 7.61pts weaker

SINGAPORE: Singapore’s benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) opened lower at 3,185.18 at 9.01am on Tuesday, down 7.61 points or 0.2 per cent. This followed a retreat of US stocks overnight after US data showed slightly weaker manufacturing activity and a modest gain in consumer spending.

Some 56.7m shares worth S$78.3m changed hands. Losers outnumbered gainers 79 to 64.
