12 development projects worth over Rs59b approved

LAHORE: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), in its 4th meeting of current fiscal year 2015-16, has okayed 12 development projects worth Rs59,057.572 million for various sectors.

P&D Board Chairman Muhammad Irfan Elahi presided over the meeting, while Members of the Planning & Development Board, Provincial Secretary concerned and other senior representatives of the relevant provincial departments also attended the meeting.

According to spokesman for P&DD, the approved development schemes included Punjab Police Integrated Command, Control & Communication (PP-IC3) Programme at the cost of Rs 13,387.679 million, preservation & restoration of Shahdara Complex of Monuments (revised)at the cost of Rs467.990 million, Lahore Ring Road Project – Southern Loop (Package-1) (land acquisition and relocation of utilities) at the cost of Rs 5425.595 million, Lahore Ring Road Project – Southern Loop (Package-2) (land acquisition and relocation of utilities) (revised) at the cost of Rs 9956.594 million, Lahore Ring Road Project – Southern Loop (Package-3) (land acquisition and relocation of utilities) at the cost of Rs5820.664 million and Lahore Ring Road (Package-9) construction of interchange at Harbanspura Canal Crossing (revised) at the cost of Rs2376.215 million.

The meeting also approved improvement/rehabilitation of existing Multan Road, Lahore from Thokar Niaz Baig to Chauburji (proposed sewerage drainage and water supply system) Package-III (revised) at the cost of Rs2045.751 million, rehabilitation/widening of 10’-12’ rural roads under “Khadem-e-Punjab Roads Programme (KPRP)” (South Zone) at the cost of Rs8025.058 million, Khadem-e-Punjab Roads Program (KPRP) (rehabilitation & widening of (rural) roads in Punjab Highways Department, North Zone) (Umbrella PC-I) (revised)at the cost of Rs9,892 million, widening/improvement of road from Ouderwal to Nila Road length 43km District Chakwal at the cost of Rs782.995 million, topographic survey and geotechnical studies for land slinding zonization of Murree Hill Area mainly located between old Rawalpindi – Murree Road and Islamabad Murree Expressway in Murree (amended) at the cost of Rs50 million and establishment of directorate general of monitoring and evaluation at the cost of Rs827.031 million.
