Traders observes partially shutter down on Wednesday

LAHORE: Traders are observed a countrywide shutter down strike on Wednesday against the imposition of withholding tax on bank transactions and warned to shut business if the tax was not withdrawn.

Number of markets in Lahore remained close against withholding tax imposed by the federal government on bank transactions. Big markets of Lahore including Hall Road, Mall Road, Brandreth Road, Nisbat Road, Shah Alam, Akbari Mandi and Circular Road remained totally closed on Wednesday against withholding tax.

On other hand number of markets remained partially opens specially MM Alam Road, Jail Road, Ferozpur Road and Shahdara. Traders divided on shutter down call by All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran.

Earlier, All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran president Khalid Pervaiz said that the traders from all over the country will participate in the strike.

He said that Rs 50 billion was withdrawn from the banks after imposition of withholding tax.

The traders have appealed government to review their decision of imposing withholding tax on banking transactions or there will be complete shutdown in the country.
