Collector Saleem emphasises for importers’ facilitation

KARACHI: The Collector of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Appraisement-West Muhammad Saleem on Monday held a meeting of additional collectors, deputy collectors and assistant collectors in his office.

As per details, the issues pertaining to newly introduced Queue Management System (QMS) for the facilitation of the importers and visitors, customs laboratory, revenue collection and grounding of containers at KICT came under discussion.

Sources told Customs Today that Collector Muhammad Saleem emphasised for streamlining the process of clearing the goods declarations on daily basis without delay.

They further informed that the collector has asked the customs officers to make full utilisation of the newly introduced QMS in order to ensure speedy redress of the problems faced by the importers and clearing agents.

“The collector MCC Appraisement-West directed the officers to prepare a list of the suggestions for improving customs laboratory to international standards, so that those recommendations would be forwarded to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for implementation,” they added.

Collector Saleem asked the officers concerns to ensure “zero pendency” at the end of the day and also issued SOPs for the subordinate officials in this regard.

He also expressed satisfaction over the revenue collection in first quarter of fiscal year2014-15 and asked the officers to further enhance the revenue collection.

The meeting was attended by Additional Collector Fayyaz Rasool Makken, Dr Ifthikar Ahmed, Nayyar Shafiq, Afzal Ahmed Wattoo and special assistant to chief collector Appraisement-South.
