Singapore police seize counterfeit computer parts, mobile phone accessories

SINGAPORE: A syndicate involved in the sales of counterfeit computer parts and mobile phone accessories was busted here the other day, said the Singapore Police Force (SPF).

An SPF news release said the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducted simultaneous raids at Sim Lim Square and Jurong East, after which four men and two women were arrested. The suspects were aged between 19 and 33 years old.

SPF added that a total of about 25,200 pieces of trademark infringing computer parts such as laptop power adaptors, batteries, hard drives, DVD-ROMs, LCD screens and software, as well as mobile phone accessories like phone casings and power banks, were seized during the operation. The haul is believed to have an estimated street value of S$2,647,800.

Police said investigation into the case is ongoing. They added that those found guilty of selling or distributing infringing goods with falsely applied trademarks can be fined up to S$100,000, jailed up to five years, or both.
