NEW YORK: Lumia smartphones should get the phone-centric version in the next couple of months and it has been announced that the Xbox One will get its OS upgrade sooner than many expected.

Microsoft fans have been left open-mouthed by the surprise announcement of a sequel to the real time strategy game Halo Wars.

The news comes following PCR’s report back in May, stating that more Xbox games will be coming to PC in the future, as Microsoft focuses on growing its Windows 10 platform. Now for gamers who are looking forward to playing Activision Xbox 360 games on their Xbox One, you could be disappointed as Activision’s name was not on the list of companies that would offer backwards compatibility.

Enabling DVR recording requires plugging in a USB hard drive into the console, which the company claimed would have no impact on gameplay performance or ability to save to the console.

There were a number of new peripherals announced at the Gamescom event. Immediately after the press conference, Phil Spencer sat down with our friend at GameSpot and talked about need of first party Xbox One games to be more Diverse. It has recently crossed over from being a mobile app to a feature of the new operating system, working hand in hand with a web browser, Edge. The Windows 10 on Xbox does of course look different than on a PC.

Developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by Microsoft Studios, Quantum Break will be released as an Xbox One exclusive starting April 5 2015. Set to launch in 2016, the feature will allow users to record live over-the-air TV to an external hard drive linked up to their Xbox One.
