Customs seizes China-made locks, auto parts in 2 raids

LAHORE: Anti-smuggling Wing of the Collectorate of Customs Preventive on Wednesday seized Rs 1.6 million non-customs paid items in two different raids the Sherankot.

Sources said that the authorities raided a bus carrying China-made locks weighing above one and a half tonnes. The value of the locks was assessed at Rs 0.8 million.

The bus is said to be owned by Peshawar resident Aslam Khan.

In the second raid, the anti-smuggling wing seized soaps, shampoos and auto-parts from a bus at Sherankot. The second bus also belonged to a resident of Peshawar.

The raids were conducted on the information of Collector of Customs Mukaram Jah. Deputy Superintendent Mazhar Buttar and inspectors Khalid Butt and Arif Meo supervised the raids.
