DUBLIN: Supermac’s has launched a new 5oz beef burger that it claims will be the first fresh meat burger available in a fast food chain in Ireland.

We are using fresh premium cuts of Irish beef, which are never frozen and the burger is cooked to order every time,” said Supermac’s founder, Pat McDonagh.

We have overcome all potential challenges which serving a fresh beef burger in prime condition to customers could possibly present.

The feedback on the product which has been piloted in a number of restaurants ahead of its nationwide roll out over the past few weeks has been extremely positive.”

The company launched the product at the Tullamore Show yesterday. It said the new burger will bring its annual spend with Irish farmers to more than €20m.

Supermac’s is in the process of opening eight new restaurants throughout Ireland as part of its 2015 plans for growth. New locations include Tipperary Town Plaza, Drogheda, Clonshaugh and Ballacolla. Plans have been submitted for a motorway service development on the M18. The franchise currently has over 100 outlets in the Republic and Northern Ireland.
