LONDON: Step by step, ooh baby… The Lexus LX 570 facelift step by step teaser continues. We first saw the refreshed big SUV via magazine scans, then from what looked like studio pics. It was pictured in the metal late last month, but we only had rear and cabin shots. Now, the spindle-grilled face, in the metal, for the first time.
It’s a pretty bold rendition of Lexus’ trademark grille. The size is large due to the body it’s stuck on, and it’s filled with thick grey slats within a chrome border. The headlamps are sharp, and they feature three LED beams and an underlining LED daytime running light tick.
The latest image, shot in what looks like a port holding area, is accompanied by a rear shot. As seen before, the third-generation J200 facelift will get L-shaped tail lamps and reverse lamps flanking the license plate slot, topped by a chrome garnish. It’s a pretty comprehensive facelift, but does the current Lexus look – so dynamic on the NX and sedans – suit the big LX?
The cabin’s overhaul is more likely to get universal thumbs up. A new central screen emphasises the width of the off-roader, as does the wide centre console, which houses plenty of buttons and controls. In contrast, the centre stack, dominated by the Mark Levinson stereo’s face, is pretty clean. New steering wheel and instruments, too. Rear passengers get large screens mounted on the front seat backrests.
