ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Emergency Food Security Alliance (PEFSA) has organised a photo exhibition to point out food insecurity and malnutrition in Sindh.
Speaking on the occasion, Oxfam Country Director Arif Jabbar Khan said that the PEFSA with the support of ECHO has been implementing nutrition sensitive programmes to overcome malnutrition.
Participants of the photo exhibition, held in PNCA, maintained that under nutrition in Sindh is a multidimensional problem with many direct and underlying causes. It therefore requires an integrated approach with multi-sector interventions and alignment of activities for a sustained impact on the nutrition outcomes and food insecurity in Pakistan, particularly in Sindh.
To address the issue of under nutrition in Sindh, PEFSA has been implementing a nutrition sensitive programme in two districts of Sindh including Sanghar and Badin. The project is focusing on treatment of malnutrition, ensuring increased food security, reducing incidence of water born diseases in target communities with positive impacts on nutrition status.
The photographs displayed showed the lives of the people in Sindh and how the inter sectoral approach has been effective in improving their lives.
