Hungary’s industrial output up 11% in June: KSH

BUDAPEST; Hungary’s industrial output saw a year-on-year rise of 11% in June, chiefly lifted by the automotive sector, which is still a driving force of the country’s industry, Hungary’s Central Statistical Office (KSH) said today in a first reading of data.

The index adjusted for working days grew by 6.0%, since the number of working days was higher by two in June of this year than in June of 2014, while in the first six months of 2015, the index saw a rise of 7.3% in year-on-year terms.

Industrial export sales saw a year-on-year rise of 13% compared to the same period of the previous year, while industrial domestic sales rose by 2.3%. Of the two manufacturing subsections accounting for more than half of export sales, the export of transport equipment, representing 36% of manufacturing exports, increased remarkably by 22%, KSH said.

The production of manufacturing increased by 12% compared to June 2014, while that of mining and quarrying, having little weight, fell by 14%, KSH data suggest. The output of energy industry, electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply, rose by 1.5%.

Total new orders in the observed branches of manufacturing grew by 10% compared to the same month of the previous year. The volume of new domestic orders rose by 21%, while that of new export orders increased by 8.5%. The volume of total stock of orders was above the level of June 2014 by 11%.
