Customs-IATA to sign MoU on August 17 at PC Hotel

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs’ WeBOC and the International Air Transport Association commonly known as IATA are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at introducing automated Courier Clearance Module at Pearl Continental Hotel on August 17, 2015.

The official sources told Customs Today, that the IATA Director would reach Karachi by August 16 evening and the signing ceremony would be held on the very next day.

In this regard, the Directorate of Reforms and Automation has given away the invitations to guest. The VP Emirates Airlines, General Manager Turkish Airlines, Commercial Manager Fly Dubai, representatives of Cathay Pacific, DHL Pakistan Ltd, PIA, Oman Air, Qatar Airway Cargo, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Swiss Air, Etihad Crystal Cargo, Kuwait Airways, Thai Airways, Gulf Air, Air China, Sri Lankan Airlines, Shaheen Air, Royal Airport Services, Airlines Operator Committee, DHL Express, DHL Group Forwarding, TCS, Airlines Bonding Committee, Member Customs-FBR, Chairman FBR,  Chief Collectors, Collectors, Deputy Collectors etc.

It is mentioned here, that presently the courier service providers including DHL, TCS, FedEx used to submit electronic manifest. However, after agreement with the IATA, the cargo whatever it be, would be inspected automated on WeBOC and there would be no need to make queue or run from pillar to post, sources added.
