SAVANNAH: The Georgia Port Authority has decided to focus on expanding the ports operations earlier this week while giving their annual state of the Ports.
As per details, authority will invest more than $1 billion into the sea over the next ten years, keeping environmental facts in mind as they are planning to go green.
As the Savannah’s port is the second largest on the East Coast and lot of ships coming in and out along with machines and trucks constantly on the go, so the port authority has been trying not to leave a footprint on the environment for their daily activities.
Moreover, already they have decreased their diesel usage by 7.5 million gallons because of more efficient machinery and electric cranes this year. Also they use rail transport more than road one. The port authority has also ordered 20 more electric cranes.
