NEW YORK: Two people in South Texas have been sentenced to prison for trying to smuggle three-dozen grenades into Mexico.
Prosecutors in Del Rio say the scheme was exposed last August.
28-year-old Juliette Ramirez was sentenced to five years, after they found with a grenade in her backpack at a Texas border crossing.
That arrest led to a Del Rio apartment, where officers found 35 more grenades.
They arrested 28 year old Noe Ramirez. He was sentenced to eight years in prison.
