KARACHI: Collector, Model Customs Collectorate-Preventive Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda is unhappy over the delay in renovation of the historic and cultural heritage – Eduljee Dinshaw Road – by the contractors. It was desired by the collector to complete the work by August 14, however, the contractors failed to comply with the orders.

Now, the Collector-Preventive personally inspects the renovation on regular basis so that the ongoing work at the site could be completed at the earliest.

The project aimed at renovating the Eduljee Dinshaw road was launched with the efforts of Collector MCC-Preventive Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda.

After renovation of the road, it would be closed for traffic and the people would come at evening to spend their leisure time and rejuvenate their memories for old times, as plants, park-lanes and other recreational items would be installed at the corners of the road for entertainment of the visitors.

“The monuments like Karachi Port Trust (KPT) Building and Imperial Custom House Building are the tourists’ attraction”, Collector MCC-Preventive S M Tariq Huda had stated at launch of the project.

The renovation work for in full swing however it was halted as the scorching heat wave took lives of more than 1100 innocent people in the city. “The people are eagerly waiting for the completion of the project at the earliest so that we could enjoy the old memories of the city”, an importer told Customs Today.

The road has been blocked which is causing problems for people as it was very difficult to cross their blockades. The laborers should have left some space for the people to cross and reach the Custom House, he added.
