Over $40K in drugs seized in Canada

NORTH BAY: The alarm had sounded but the net had already been set in the arrest five people involved in selling drugs.

At around 4 p.m. that day members of the Street Crime Unit saw what they believed was a drug transaction take place between two people on Lakeshore Drive at Premier Road and two arrests were made.

A 31-year-old North Bay man was charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of Oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of currency obtained by crime.

A 24-year-old North Bay woman was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

As a result of these arrests, police requested a search warrant for two downtown apartments, one on Main Street West and another on Lakeshore Drive. While waiting for the warrants to be issued officers saw three people attempt to leave the Lakeshore Drive address in motor vehicles at 4:50 p.m.

All three were arrested.

A 30 year-old North Bay man was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of Oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking, possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, and breach of recognizance.

Two woman, 28-year-old and a 27-year-old, both of North Bay, were each charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one for Oxycodone, for cocaine and for marijuana; and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

As a result of this investigation, North Bay Police seized 235.5 grams of cocaine; 102 Oxycodone pills; 35.3 grams of cannabis marijuana; and seven bundles of Canadian currency (yet to be reconciled) valued between $50,000 to $60,000.

The street value of the drugs seized is estimated at $44,000.
