Tokyo stocks plunge 2.10% in early trade, Nikkei 255 down 420.59pts

TOKYO: Tokyo stocks plunged 2.10 percent in the morning session of Friday on concerns over the yen’s appreciation against the U.S. dollar.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 420.59 points, from Thursday to end the morning at 19,612.93, a roughly six-week intraday low. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 39.87 points, or 2.46 percent, to 1,584.01.
