DUBLIN: Gardai discovered the cache of drugs – largely made up of medical pills – at a house in Blanchardstown here the other day.
One man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation.
Following a search, officers discovered and seized €880,000 worth of prescription pills.
Some 300,000 zopiclone tablets worth €600,000 along with 280,000 diazepam tablets with an estimated value of €280,000 were confiscated. Zopiclone is a hypnotic medicine used to treat insomnia, also sometimes called a ‘Z drug’.
Heroin with a street value of around €3,600 and €2,400 worth of cannabis was also seized in the operation.
Investigations were continuing last night. Gardaí are attempting to establish where the drugs originated from and where they were to be sold or transported to.
The arrested man was being detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act 1996.
