TOKYO: It might have debuted a few days ago on US soil at Pebble Beach, but the Lexus LX 750 never forgot its origins and made a comeback in its homeland. In other words, the Japanese market received its own facelifted Lexus LX 570, after the SUV debuted last week in Monterey, California.

As you’d expect it, the LX 570 is positioned as the flagship model in Lexus’ SUV range, at dealers expect to receive the first batch of cars starting from September 14.

Just like in the US-bound LX 570, the model heading to customers in Japan makes use of a gargantuan 5.7-liter V8 good for 377 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 534 Nm (394lb-ft) of torque at 3,200 rpm.

Ninety percent of that torque value is delivered from 2,000 rpm, and the engine’s potential is exploited via an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels. If it’s fuel efficiency figures you’re interested in, allow us to mention the mammoth SUV will reward your soft right foot touch with 6.5 km/l (that’s around 15.4 l/100 km or 15.3 mpg US) according to Japan’s JC08 cycle.

In the visual department, there’s nothing different from what the US-spec Lexus LX 570 has to offer, but we’ll mention the SUV receives sequential LED turn signal lamps, which is a first for a Lexus car.

Since we’re talking about premieres on Lexus vehicles, we must mention the introduction of Customize Mode.

Sure, you’ll want to know what it does, so there you have it: upon selection of Customize Mode, the powertrain, chassis, and air conditioning controls can each be freely adjusted. As a result, the driver can select a driving mode better suited to his or her preferences.

Inside, the Japan-spec Lexus LX 570 offers the Lexus Climate Concierge advanced climate control system that now features the Climate Concierge Switch, a feature that brings together control of automatic air conditioning, steering-wheel heating, and heating and seat ventilation for driver, passenger, and second row seats.

Also, the gizmo can tell if passengers are present in the front and second row seats, and switches the various functions on or off accordingly.

Lexus plans to sell 50 LX 570 units every month in Japan, an ambitious task considering they’re asking 11 million yen (roughly 88,700 at current exchange rates) for the SUV.
