ANF seizes drugs worth Rs214.8m in 7 raids

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force has recovered drugs including 75.5kg opium, 10.6kg charas and 8kg heroin in seven successful operations conducted against drug traffickers in Faisalabad, Lahore, Sialkot, Kasur, Peshawar and Gilgit.

During these operations, ANF has also arrested 11 persons including 2 lady smugglers and confiscated vehicles. The value of seized drugs, being transported to local markets, amounts to approximately Rs214.8m in international market.

In first operation, ANF Lahore intercepted a Suzuki Cultus car No LEJ – 8483 near main Motorway Toll Plaza, Faisalabad and recovered 60kgs opium concealed in secret cavities of the car. Drug carrier Muqarab Khan r/o Bannu was taken into custody on the spot. According to initial information, the car was handed over to the accused by a person namely Khalid Khan based at Karkhano Market, Peshawar. It has been further revealed that the drug was to be received by the same person at main Motorway Toll Plaza, Faisalabad.

ANF Lahore, on search of a suspected Toyota Corolla car No LOU – 9441 at Hallah Chowk, Patoki Bypass, District Kasur, recovered 14.3kg opium and arrested two drug carriers Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Mansha, both residents of District Kasur.

In another raid conducted near main bus stand, Sialkot city, ANF Lahore arrested Muhammad Farooq and recovered 1.77kg charas and 1.2kg opium concealed in his luggage. According to information, accused is a local drug trafficker. After initial investigations, two of his accomplices Shehzad Ahmed and Shahid Pervez, both residents of Sialkot were also taken into custody from Mohallah Camp Gujjran, Sialkot. Their arrest also resulted in recovery of 1.2kg charas.

During an operation carried out near District Government Bus Terminal, Bund Road, Lahore, ANF apprehended 2 lady smugglers Shakila Bibi and Amna Bibi, both residents of Noushera and recovered 4.8kg Charas from their possession. They came from Peshawar to deliver drugs at Lahore City.

Meanwhile, ANF Lahore intercepted a parcel intended for UK at DHL cargo office, Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore and recovered 940 grams heroin concealed in 4 pairs of safety gloves. As per reports, the parcel was booked by Muhammad Afzaal Aslam r/o Sialkot at DHL courier service office, Palace Road, Sialkot and was to be received by Muhammad Ali, Bolton Road, Bedford Shire, UK.

ANF Rawalpindi also conducted an operation near Ramzan Hotel, main bazaar, Gilgit City and apprehended an accused Sher Azam along with 800 grams charas. According to reports, the accused is resident of District Diamer and currently residing at Baseen Gilgit.

ANF Peshawar seized a Toyota Axio car No AF – 718 – ICT near main Motorway Toll Plaza, Peshawar and recovered 7Kg heroin and 2Kg charas tactfully concealed in front doors of the car. Two drug carriers namely Muhammad Ashfaq r/o Khyber Agency and Fazal Khaliq r/o Peshawar were taken into custody on the spot. As per reports, the accused were transporting drugs to Punjab.

All cases have been registered at ANF police stations and further investigations are under progress.
