KINGSTON: A building inspector employed to the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation has been arrested on corruption allegations.
The 28-year-old man was arrested during an under-cover operation by detectives from the Major Organised Crime & Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA).
It is reported that in May this year, the building inspector visited a location in Kingston where a building is being constructed.
He is alleged to have informed the proprietor that the building permit had expired and solicited $500,000 to expedite the process of renewing the permit.
A report was made to MOCA, and an investigation launched.
The inspector was held today after he collected a sum of money.
