Customs collects Rs 116.98 million on imports via Wagha Border in Sept

LAHORE: Pakistan imported potatoes, tomatoes, garlic and textile material worth Rs 1.55 billion from India via Wagha Border during last month, September.

According to documents available with Customs Today, country has imported 1846.57 metric ton potatoes worth Rs 8.75 million, duty free, via Wagha Border during last month. Similarly, 17429 metric ton tomatoes worth Rs 82.26 million were imported in September. Customs collected Rs 4.94 million income tax on tomatoes import.

Moreover, Customs collected Rs 0.82 million from garlic import worth Rs 13.95 million during the said month. The document shows that Pakistan imported 2281.27 metric ton ginger from India worth Rs 16.27 million from India, on which Rs 24.21 customs duty and Rs 1.12 million income tax was collected by customs.

Oil-cake and carbon dioxide were imported worth Rs 92.32 million and Rs 18.3 million respectively in September of this year from India via Wagha Border. Customs collected Rs 4.7 million duty, Rs 4.8 million sales tax and Rs 4.5 million income tax on the import of oilcake, while, Rs 0.9 million duty, Rs 3.2 million sales tax, Rs 0.4 million additional sales tax and Rs 1.26 million income tax on the import of carbon dioxide.

Furthermore, Pakistan imported polyethylene having gravity less than 0.94 worth Rs 19.99 million, polyethylene having gravity 0.94 or more worth Rs 84.84 million and polypropylene worth Rs 67.11 million  from India.

Also Pakistan imported cotton, cotton yarn, cotton waste, non-woven, textile material and machinery from India via Wagha Border in the last month. As a whole, Pakistan imports stands at value of Rs 1.55 billion, while total duty collected was Rs 3.89 million during September.

Customs collected Rs 39.56 million sales tax, Rs 1.58 million additional sales tax and Rs 71.95 million income tax on imports from India via Wagha Border.
