Reduction in petrol prices this Eid: Rs 12?

ISLAMABAD: Brent crude hit a 28-month low to $92.04 a barrel, falling from $115 a barrel in mid-June while benchmark US oil dropped below the $90 a barrel mark for the first time since April 2013. It is almost 18 percent decline in oil price in international markets while locally Petroleum Ministry has just decreased the petrol price by Rs 2.94 per liter which is not justified in any case.

The government should at least decrease the petrol price by Rs 12 per liter if it really wants to give some relief to the masses on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul Azha. The government always quote international markets to increase the prices of petroleum products but it never decreased these prices in same way on falling international rates. In this way, Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri seem to be right that the government doesn’t pass on any relief to the masses.
