Customs seizes Rs 287,926,419 smuggled goods since January 2015

KARACHI: While informing about the performance of the customs, Collector Model Customs Collectorate- Preventive Syed Tariq Huda says smuggled goods worth Rs 287,926,419 have been seized in the running year i.e January 2015 till to date.

Moreover, the MCC-Preventive officials have conducted several raids on different places resulted in arrest of 36 culprits along with the smuggled goods and liquor worth millions of rupees, the collector added.

While giving break-up of the seizure of smuggled goods, Tariq Huda said the recovery included 369,180 liters diesel worth Rs 31,215,904 were seized, huge quantity of contraband goods including charas, liquor gutka etc worth Rs 90,615,278, huge quantity of merchandize goods including black tea, cigarettes, cloth, electronic, mobile phones, tyre, cosmetics Rs 29,116,349, non custom paid vehicles, wooden launch and 50 conveyances worth Rs 86,231,116.

Moreover, the arrest of culprits and main accused persons had been made while FIRs were also registered FIRs against them. Besides, the smugglers have been produced before the court of law for legal procedures.

According to him, while proceedings of those registered cases custom successes for sentencing 26 culprits form the court of law.
