Customs Preventive seizes items worth Rs 12.9m from a passenger bus

KARACHI: The Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of Model Customs Collectorate (MCC) Preventive has confiscated contraband items worth Rs 12.965 million from a passenger bus.

While addressing a press conference at Custom West Wharf, Chief Collector Enforcement-South, Zahid Khokhar said that the custom officials also impounded a passenger bus bearing Registration No BSA-585.

The bus was intercepted near Lucku Chok near Al-Rehman City of RCD Highway, Karachi on tip-off where customs officers conducted the search and recovered smuggled goods included sanitary ware, air conditioners, laptops, toiletries, high-intensity discharge (HID) lights etc worth Rs 5.96 million.

Chief Collector also said that the value of passenger bus has been estimated at Rs 7 million. The total value of case is 12.695 million.

According to chief collector, an FIR has been lodged against the carrier, however; efforts are being made to arrest the smugglers who are operating from Afghanistan.

At the Press conference, Collector MCC Preventive, Tariq Huda and Deputy Collector Khalid Hussain Jamali were also present where all the seized items were also presented.
