NAB arrests former petroleum advisor Dr Asim

KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested former advisor on petroleum and natural resources Dr Asim Hussain.

The sources told Customs Today that the NAB had written a letter to former advisor asking him for the details of LNG contracts and other details during his tenure. However, Dr Asim showed reluctance to hand over the documents.

The plaintclothes officials mainly from NAB and law enforcing agency arrived at the Sindh Higher Education Commission office where a meeting was underway. Sources said that Azra Pehchuho, Mazhar Siddiqui and Dr Iqbal Durrani were also present during the meeting.

 Dr Asim Hussain is a close-aid and trusted friend of former president and Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. Presently, he is serving as the chairman Sindh’s HEC.

Dr Asim Hussain had been summoned by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the country’s main anti-corruption watchdog. Hussain had departed the country for Dubai after getting protective bail in a case, and returned to Karachi only four days ago, sources added.
