Customs Preventive issues rebate cheques amounting to Rs 1349m to traders

SIALKOT: The Model Customs Collectorate Preventive has issued Rs 1349 million rebate to traders who subsequently exported finished goods in financial year 2014-15.

The business community by the end of the current financial year 2014-15, 1349 million rebate claim that the funds have been paid more than 194 million over the previous year’s 2014-13 rebate payments.

The collectorate has issued rebate cheques in the name of the importers  who imported raw material for making finished goods for export.

Sources told Customs Today that the collectorate gave rebate to textile sector on garments, cotton fabric and polyester garments. Leather sector was given rebate on finished leather garments, hides, leather shoes and artificial leather (raxene).

Similarly, sports goods made for exports were also given rebate. The sources said surgical goods, cutlery, rubber goods and shoes other than leather and their parts were also offered rebate. The government has offered the rebate scheme to enhance export volume and earn valuable foreign exchange.

The sources said that the rebate cheques have been distributed among most of the traders while the remaining importers will also be able to receive their share of rebate on their imported raw material soon.

It is pertinent to mention here, Collector Customs Zulfiqar Ali passed special instructions to Additional Collector Khawaja Khurram Naeem to supervise all the process of rebate while Superintendent Naeem Raza and other Customs relevant staff worked day and night to complete the process.
