Have a look on Patent Images of Suzuki iM-4’s Production Model

TOKYO: First unveiled as a concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the patent images of the production-ready Suzuki iM-4 have surfaced online. Though the company calls it a compact crossover/SUV, the looks of it are nothing more than a tall-boy hatchback. And since it will be offered with a 4×4 system in some markets, we would call it a sub-compact 4×4 at best. The car is expected to go on sale in several international markets sometime in 2016.

The patent images reveal that the production-model of the iM-4 will look largely similar to the concept version except for some minor changes. Of all the changes given to the mini SUV, the most important one has come in the form of new headlamp units. Instead of the concept’s all-LED unit, the car now gets regular headlight unit.

Other changes are regular panel-mounted outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs), smaller tyres, pull-style door handles instead of flush-style units the concept, and revised bumpers. As suggested by spy pictures, the production-ready model may also miss out on the rear spoiler.

Upon its launch the Suzuki iM-4 could be offered with two petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged and the Swift’s 1.2-litre Dualjet. The same powertrains can be used for the Indian market as well in case the company plans to bring this vehicle here.

Besides the iM-4, the company is planning to launch the iK-2 concept-based Suzuki Baleno premium hatchback as well in several markets including India.
