FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa asked to halt promotion of eight corrupt officers

ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Tariq Bajwa has been asked to remove the names of eight corrupt officials of BS-18 from the promotion list as they are allegedly involved in breaching the law.

As per details, FBR Administration Member Shahid Hussain Jatoi has reportedly raised this point before the chairman and now both high ups are pondering on the next move in the matter, sources told.

They added that FBR chairman had selected as many as 42 officers of customs group for their promotion from BS18 to BS19 in a departmental selection board (DSB) meeting, while DSB considering removing the name of eight officers from the list after receiving bad reports against them.

As per details, the field formation offices of the FBR have sent reports alleging that nominated officer have been found involve in corruption and misuse of powers.

Therefore, the FBR chairman has also directed the Admin member to not include the name of corrupt officials in the list for promotions.

The sources also claimed that these elements were trying to influence the decision of FBR politically but the Admin member made it clear to them that all promotions will be made only on merit.
