FBR field officers given promotion powers

LAHORE: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), through a notification, has delegated power of promotions of grade 14-16 employees to field officers including commissioners and collectors.

FBR Union President Mian Qayyuum thanked to FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa and other officials concerned including Member Tax Policy Shahid Hussain Assad, Member Admin Shahid Jatoi and Chief Management Dr Bashirullah for resolving the longstanding issue of the workers of tax department. He said that due to this issue, a lot of promotions were pending for the last two years, adding “The decision will enhance the performance of workers besides lessening burden of staff of head office”.

The Union leader said that the customs officials in Toorkhum and Chaman would definitely get benefit from this decision as they would not visit Islamabad any more for their promotions. He urged the Board authorities to activate FBR Foundation and announce policy for the promotion of lower staff. “Majority of the lower staff is working in the same cadre for 20 to 25 years because there is no policy for their promotion,” he added.
