GEORGIA: St. George Chamber of Commerce Summer Retreat, which was open to the public and took place at the Eureka Casino and Resort. All of the chamber chairmen from Mesquite to Cedar City were in attendance and posed for what could be considered an historic picture. As a result of this meeting, the six chambers have formed a coalition designed to make our individual chambers more effective.
The coalition members are from St. George, Washington City, Hurricane, Cedar City, Moab and Mesquite. The Mesquite Chamber of Commerce is now “on the map” from Las Vegas to Cedar City.Once again, the Eureka did a fabulous job of hosting the retreat. It was great to have such an event held at a chamber member’s facility in our community. The retreat featured three keynote speakers and various breakout sessions.
The theme of the meeting was “Social Entrepreneurship: Building Business and Giving Back to the Community.” The day began with a discussion about creating value. Too often, businesses focus on their product and not their customer’s needs. When the “perceived” value of goods or services exceeds the customer’s “expected” value, he or she will return again and again.
