ATHENS: Greece Customs authorities have seized a foreign-flagged vessel and arrested all of its crew members after a raid revealed it was carrying a large cargo of weapons and explosives, it was reported on Tuesday.
Details about the operation were not released, though it was suggested that it was conducted jointly by the coast guard and a unit of the military’s special forces, who raided and searched the ship earlier in the day off the coast of Ierapetra on the island’s south.
The vessel has been docked so that a more thorough examination of its cargo can be carried out.
