Court awards nine years imprisonment to drug trafficker

ISLAMABAD: Special Anti-Narcotics Court has sentenced a smuggler to nine years jail involved in smuggling of 200 kilogram of heroin and imposed Rs 20,000 fine.

According to the details, ANF team had arrested Muhammad Masood and recovered 200 kg heroin from his possession, besides registering a case against him under anti-narcotics laws.

Judge Chudhary Anwar Ahmed Khan heard the drug smuggling case, where evidence and witnesses were presented before the court against the suspect by the ANF. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court awarded jail to smuggler for nine years as he found involved in the crime.

The court also imposed Rs 20,000 fine on him. In case of failure in payment of fine, he may face more jail imprisonment as well.
