KUWAIT CITY: In an attempt to escape security and customs authorities, some drug dealers have started using a new method for smuggling drugs from one area to another or even from one country to another — homing pigeons, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting informed source. He explained that the use of such a method was discovered following the arrest of a young man in possession of hashish worth KD 500. During interrogations, the suspect revealed that he had received the drugs from the dealer via homing pigeons, and that he never met the dealer.
The source indicating that this method, which helps the traders escape unidentified, is prevalent in Arab and foreign countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, New Zealand, Egypt, Morocco and Iraq.
Affirming that the use of drugs can lead to destruction of families, Law Professor at Kuwait University Dr Ibrahim Al-Hamoud said drug traders are fully aware that they will be either executed to death or sentenced to life imprisonment if they are arrested, which is why they use such a malicious method to avoid punishments.
