Customs court could not hear Smart Zone case due to lawyers’ strike

ISLAMABAD: The two directors of Smart Zone Company allegedly involved in smuggling of various items presented before the Special Customs and Taxation Court to get confirmation regarding their pre-arrest bail granted by Islamabad High Court (IHC), but case could not be heard due to lawyers’ strike.

As per details, two directors namely Latif Hakeem and Muhammad Asghar who are on pre-arrest bail reached court for confirmation of bail but the case was adjourned for next hearing as lawyers were absent from the court due to strike.

It is important to mention here that both alleged director have also moved Customs Appellate Tribunal against the heavy fine which has been imposed by Customs Adjudication by deciding the case. The tribunal will hear the appeal in recent week.
