LAHORE: The textile industrialists have expressed their satisfaction over restoration of gas supply to the industry and thanked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for playing his role in ensuring the resumption of supply.

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Central Chairman S M Tanveer had appealed to the premier for taking action against SNGPL’s stance of halting gas supply to the textile industry as the SNGPL had planned to resume supply on October 20.

S M Tanveer also appealed to the prime minister to ensure uninterrupted gas and electricity supply to the Punjab-based textile mills during winter. He lamented that the textile industry had lost $1 billion during last five months just owing to decline in exports, caused by power and gas outages. He apprehended that the industry could lose another $2 billion ahead in case energy supply remains under pressure during winter.
