The Multan Excise and Taxation Department has issued luxury tax notices to the owners of more than 40 marlas of residences. According to the notices, those who possess 2 kanals of residential houses such as bungalows and villas will pay Rs 200,000 luxury tax. The owners having land more than 2 kanals will have to pay extra tax worth Rs 100,000 per 20 marlas.

The notices have been issued to more than 500 owners of luxury houses.

On the other hand, some property owners have moved a petition against the luxury taxes with a view that the government has applied unfair taxes which should be declared null and void. The LHC Multan bench has granted a stay order in Multan, barring the Excise and Taxation Department from collecting luxury taxes.
